This is funny now, and I can laugh, but let me just say that I've had a lot of bad Wal-Mart experiences lately that haven't been so funny. I'm currently contemplating what my life would look like if I decided to "boycott" WM and take my business to other retailers in the area. And I'm contemplating pretty seriously, people. In the meantime, here's a typical "incident":
I go to Wal-Mart to buy new/more yoga pants (the kind they used to carry, which everyone who wrote reviews LOVED, has been discontinued in favor of another kind of pant, which I and everyone else who wrote reviews HATES, but that's another story). I pick up some clothes and head to the dressing room.
Wal-Mart Employee (WME): "How many?"
Me: "Five."
WME: "HOW many?"
Me: (slightly louder) "Five."
WME: "One? Two? Three? Four?"
Me: "Five?"
WME: "Here, just take this one." (hands me a dangler that says 5)
Me: "Ok... since I have five..."
WME: "Oh, you have five?"
Me: "... yes."
I take my things into the dressing room. Skip ahead two minutes.
WME: (yelling into the dressing room) "Is anyone in there?"
Me: *figures she can't mean me, since I JUST came in here, and she saw me, and in order to get out without her seeing I' have to scale the back wall of the dressing booth*
WME: *bangs on my door* "Is ANYONE in there?!"
Me: "Um... me?"
WME: "Oh, I forgot about you... how many items do you have?"
Me: "Five?"
WME: "Did you say five?"
That sound you hear, folks, is my head banging against the wall repeatedly.
Seek Him that maketh the seven stars and Orion... The LORD is his name." - Amos 5:8

The Big Day Is HERE!
In less than twelve hours, I will be leaving for the airport to pick up my BFF, her baby boy, and her sister/my friend! :) I'm super psyched!
It seemed to take FOREVER for today to get here, but of course when it finally did it now feels like it's too soon. I have a flury of stuff to get done in the next few hours - a quick shopping run, some presents to wrap, my room to finish getting shipshape - but I just wanted to do a quick post since I'm not sure how much posting will get done while she's here. I'll be having too much fun!
Here's a funny story before I go: We got more snow Saturday AND Sunday, so when I woke up to go to work on Monday I was a bit nervous about getting out and driving in the snow. I knew our road would be covered, but I figured the main roads would be mostly clear. No such luck! I was driving down the road with some soothing music on to calm me, clutching at the steering wheel nervously and praying frequently. I turned down the road to Chris's house and hit a particularly nasty stretch of ice-covered road. I said out loud, "Dear God, please don't let me die!!!"
Precisely after I uttered these words, the song "If I Die Young" came over the speakers.
All I can say is, it wasn't EXACTLY the sign from the universe that I was hoping for. :)

Free Laugh
I love to laugh. :) I've been giggling about this all morning, so I thought I'd share it with you!
This morning the co-op where I teach got cancelled, right after I'd gotten all dressed up and psyched to go, so instead of getting back into slum clothes and starting some chores, I thought I'd run out and get some coffee instead.
As I was walking to my truck, I noticed the nice morning light and decided to take a few pictures of my outfit for my other blog, Girl In Skirt. I started the truck to warm it up a bit and walked a little bit away to take pictures.

I walked back to my truck, but as I was getting in, I noticed something fuzzy on my tire, so I leaned down to investigate, and this is what I saw:

I already had my camera in my hand, so I had to snap a quick picture. What a bad cat! "Ranger" is definitely the baddest cat we've ever had :) but her 'mommy', my sister Anna, loves her anyway. Ranger did not want to get out, but I wanted coffee, and I am bigger. :)
Later on I was showing this picture to my mom and siblings, and we started making funny captions. Each time we'd calm down from laughing, we'd look at the picture again... and we'd start laughing all over!
Here are the captions we came up with:
- "Pardon me... are you using this vehicle?"
- "I won't get out until you play with me!"
- "Who... me?"
- "Yeah... whaddaya want?"
- "The wheels on the truck go round and round..."
- "Excuse me. This truck is dirty."
- "Just call me Mr. Tire."
- "I was here first."
- "I'm from the Truck Inspection Station. You fail."
- "I'm open to bribes."
- "Your truck? What do you mean, your truck?"
- "Bad cat? Where is it?"

Made Me Laugh
On the back of a CHILDRENS Benadryl bottle: 'Do not drive or operate heavy machinery while taking this medication.' Um, how about don't drive or operate machinery AT ALL? Or at least until you're old enough to take adult meds?

Overheard and made me smile...
Ouerheard on the radio: Next, the Beach Boys will bring us their version of "Frosty the Snowman"... Which is ironic, considering that the only Frosties they have in California are the kind you get through Wendy's.
:)
